The Famous (midnight)
Firecracker -- CD RELEASE! (11PM)
The Bellyachers (10PM)
Wendy De Rosa (9PM)

at 12 Galaxies
2565 Mission St, San Francisco

THE FAMOUS
It's like The Stones, The Doors, The Cramps all mixed in with Iggy Pop for an arse-kicking mix of swampy, swaggery classic rock-americana-roots rock-country drinking music. Think whiskey-soaked, cigarette-smelling, beat-up southern spirit with an emphasis on perfect hooks, aggressive guitar, irreverent attitude and cackling, "lemme tell you some'in.." vocals.

FIRECRACKER
Songwriters Russell Tillitt (piano/organ/vocals) and Scout (vocals/guitar) craft shimmery, rootsy pop gems about love and loss, longing and memory. The band, rounded out by bassist Gardner May, drummer Peter Craft and guitarist Dave Strahan, brings an honesty and integrity to the songs that come across just as clearly in the studio as in live performances. Smart, evocative lyrics, hooky melodies and rhythms that range from country shuffles to straight-up rock & roll create a sound that defies attempts at comparison.

THE BELLYACHERS
That the Bellyachers would cite X as an influence is hardly surprising. That they'd list Willie Nelson, as well, seems right and good. But that the same band would claim to owe an artistic debt to The Flaming Lips? Well, that strikes at the heart of what makes this band different. What they have in common with those seminal acts is bigger than style, attitude or format. It's the unique sound produced when multiple singer-songwriters come together in a single band...and the band's vision expands to encompass them all.

WENDY DE ROSA
Savvy, strong, independent, full of life and inspiration, are the messages conveyed in the groove based, jazzy soul-folk music of Wendy De Rosa. She finds that catchy melody, creates that hook, and then you find you're singing it all day long. Her songs are beat driven, and her timber voice soars melodies over her rhythmic guitar playing.
